What's up with Interstate Batteries?

Sunday, January 9, 2011
Interstate Batteries Chairman Norm Miller has created a commercial to promote God's Love. The commercial advertises the site http://www.iamsecond.com/.  OK, I have no issue with this, he can have his first amendment rights to free speech.

Interstate Batteries is a privately held corporation with 1400 employees nation-wide. Since they are a privately held corporation and not publicly traded, they obviously do not have to deal with shareholder outrage over corporate sponsorship of religion.

However, if we use the national average of those that identify as non-religious (approx. 16%) then over 200 Interstate Batteries employees would fall into this category. I wonder how they feel about their Chairman using company resources and time to promote God. I, for one, would have an issue working for Interstate Batteries or any company whose Chairman uses company resources and time to promote God.

Interstate Batteries has an entire web page on their corporate site devoted to Norm Miller's God's Love. On the page there are links to other sites to Share God's Love.

I am glad to see you believe in our first amendment rights. To follow your logic and math, all employees of Interstate Battery should celebrate this advertising campaign as it reaches out to the 84% of us who identify as religious. By reaching out to such a large percentage of the potential customer basebase ALL EMPLOYEES of Interstate Battery have enhanced job security and future employment prospects

If you or any other employee dislikes the way that a private company spends its money and resources to promote God's love then feel free to get a job with a different company. Employees don't get a say in how their privately owned company spends its resources. If they disagree with how the resources are spent then they can start their own company and spend its resources as they please. Quit your whining!

You know i think....in these times...with little caring and love for others....i think its a good thing.

The church we go to has a simple message...Be as nice as you can, as often as you can, to as many people as you can.

If you don't work for this company, it shouldn't bother you one way or the other. The same if you are a customer and like their product.

Tonight on 01-04-2019 I just saw Interstate Battery's God's Love TV ad for the first time. I am VERY glad to see it. The company that I own already purchases ALL of our batteries large and small from them. I will definitely continue to purchase from them all the more because of their ad. I do, however, find it VERY small minded that an atheist blog (no2religion,blogspot.com) has to attempt to denigrate a TV ad such as this. If we did TV ads, I would also utilize ads such as Interstate's.

Um... then don't work for them.

As a believer in the first amendment and free choice, I will exercise both and never shop (or buy) another one of their batteries ever again. Their commercial was offends and complete bullshit.

Dear GoldWinger00, I pray that God's love will touch your heart and open your mind to the truth. God is real and He loves you!

There is no good without GOD. If their commercial offends , then one is truly in need of Good in their life. Y'all mention share holder outrage if it were on the market. To that the only answer is sorry you feel that way ,would be to sell your shares and buy devil dogs.

Re-evaluate the triggers of your "offense" alarm. Feather trigger.
